Equipe 44 Presentation - Season 14

Written by Equipe 44 at 19:34 4/10-2010

Today Equipe 44 has unveiled the new team roster for the upcoming season. The ceremony took place in the main auditorium of the Akademio Internacia de la Sciencoj San Marino, with whom Equipe 44 also signed a cooperation protocol. Many international journalists were present to report the event.
Team manager Toni was the presenter and started the show with the news that the team would have a new logo and a new colour scheme, with the riders now riding in black and blue. Next, the riders were called one by one. The team roster is as follows:

   Dimitri Frémaux, 27
   Falk Caldwell, 29
   Jean de Noviant, 28
   Moritz Spatz, 26
   László Nagy, 25
   Porter Blavot, 25
   Salim Wajeeh, 26
   Sin Kiat Safiq Rahim, 23
   Tyr Lindbjerg, 25

In: Dimitri Frémaux (none), Moritz Spatz* (trackstah07), László Nagy* (new-pro), Porter Blavot* (Drapeau Noir), Tyr Lindbjerg* (none).
Out: Joop Demyttenaere* (trackstah07), Peter-Jan Lannoye* (none), Raidar Kiiranen (none), Stefan Rhise* (none), Tao Yang* (Drapeau Noir).

  *Mid-season transfer.

A new team staff was also unveiled. Dr. Sebastiano Zonzini joined mid-season as the team doctor, while some other hirings were made. These include Massimiliano Capelli, an Italian chef whose tutor was the world renowned American chef Mario Batali; Piero Zunino, a sports psychologist; and some young journalism students who will work on the press releases and general public relations of the team.

After these two presentations, Toni spoke about the season's objectives. The manager singled out the maxing of Salim Wajeeh and the urge to have a second leader. According to the manager, Sin Kiat Safiq Rahim will be trained to fulfill this need.
The manager also pointed out the team's first tours which he believes to be an excelent change for Wajeeh to prove his value. Quoting him, "I firmly believe that Wajeeh is being underestimated and this obviously has consequences on his results. He's clearly lacking confidence. Hopefully some good results in the tours will bring up the best of him.". Finally, the manager also gave his thoughts about the small sized squad, saying that he hopes he can expand it to 10 riders before the end of the season.

The presentation then ended with a spectacular performance by the Catalan theatrical group La Fura dels Baus, leaving us thinking if Equipe 44 will fly high this season like the Catalans usually do.
