A new team staff was also unveiled. Dr. Sebastiano Zonzini joined mid-season as the team doctor, while some other hirings were made. These include Massimiliano Capelli, an Italian chef whose tutor was the world renowned American chef Mario Batali; Piero Zunino, a sports psychologist; and some young journalism students who will work on the press releases and general public relations of the team.
After these two presentations, Toni spoke about the season's objectives. The manager singled out the maxing of Salim Wajeeh and the urge to have a second leader. According to the manager, Sin Kiat Safiq Rahim will be trained to fulfill this need.
The manager also pointed out the team's first tours which he believes to be an excelent change for Wajeeh to prove his value. Quoting him, "I firmly believe that Wajeeh is being underestimated and this obviously has consequences on his results. He's clearly lacking confidence. Hopefully some good results in the tours will bring up the best of him.". Finally, the manager also gave his thoughts about the small sized squad, saying that he hopes he can expand it to 10 riders before the end of the season.
The presentation then ended with a spectacular performance by the Catalan theatrical group La Fura dels Baus, leaving us thinking if Equipe 44 will fly high this season like the Catalans usually do.
